Scherben bringen Glück! - Shards bring good fortune! DIY

Take some broken flowerpots (or destroy them), houseleeks from the supermarket and old stuff, throw it all in a bucket, shake it- Et voilà, new decoration for your balcony!
Ok, it wasn't that quick. It takes a lot of time. But I really like my little upcycling of broken crockery. :)

Of course, it's not a new idea. Searching for "Upcycling broken pot" you will find a lot of great projects! I've decided to use houseleeks, because the Latin name means "always alive"- well, we will see! :D
"Modest and simple plant", as long as you don't ask the Internet. 1000 different varieties of soils I've never heard from. So the plants get a mix of little stones, garden- and potting soil and bird sand. I've put some stones and shards on the bottom, also added an improvised fleece, made of an old cloth bag.

Using more shards and stones, I've made several stairs and plains, allowing the water to flow off.

WIP

Now just arrange the plants and decorations- finished! :) I have created one plant pot on the topic "kitchen" and one on the topic "fossils".

Mail Me Art

Mail Me Art is an international Art project, founded in 2006 by Darren Di Lieto: www.mailmeart.com
It is simple: You take an blank postcard and create a piece oft art- a drawing, painting, collage... so not the artwork itself is the message of the mail, not the text or anything else. It's just for fun and to connect different artist and illustrators around the world. :)
The finished postcard is sent to the organiser and the cards are exhibited and printed in a MailMeArt book. This year everyone can take part, there is no special topic and the name for MMA 4 is "Open all hours".
And what happend to the original paintings? They are sold for different charity projects.
I love the idea, so this year, I wanted to take part. :)

Dachshunds on the way. :)

It was totally clear, that I would dedicate the painting to our two dachhunds. :) There is a German saying "Bekannt wie ein bunter Hund" which means "He's known all over town" and is direct translated to "To be known like a coloured dog". With this in mind, the result was... a very unusual, colourful painting. Done with watercolours and coloured pencils.

"Dachshunds with flowers" ;)

Now I could only hope, that the postal service will bring the card to the destination in a good condition!
What do you think about such projects? Did you know Mail Me Art before?
